I saw that 10 minutes ago on Euronews! Anyway, when it comes down to politics, do you seriously expect them to care for the feelings of a 7 year old? Or to do anything for the sake of truthfulness? I'm not at all surprised, though I obviously condemn their choice. Clearly it would have been a better move to put the "ugly" girl singing in front of a camera, people would have been amazed at her talent and wouldn't even be able to tell whether she was gorgeous or a koala or whatever.
